Welcome to the Retta Children's Ministry!

Here at Retta our number one goal is to lovingly teach your child the truth and love of Jesus Christ. Our programs are designed to engage kids into a closer relationship to Jesus, while teaching them how to live the Christian life.

Introducing children and their families to the saving power and redemption found only in Jesus Christ. Discipling them in a lifelong relationship with Him and empowering the children and their parents to share the Gospel with their neighbors and community resulting in impacting the world for Christ.

About Mrs. Darla

Darla J. Smith serves as Children’s Minister at Retta and administrates the care and instruction for the bed babies- 6th grade. She is also the supervisor over Retta Christian Learning Center. Darla has a Masters Degree in Christian Education with an emphasis in Childhood Education from Southwestern Baptist Seminary. She has served children and families for over 20 years in various vocational and volunteer positions. Her vision and purpose in life is God’s Word and cultivating it for the transformation of children and families into the image and glorification of Christ. Darla and her husband Stephen have four children and reside in Mansfield TX.

Darla believes it is crucial that children grasp the Gospel of Christ and learn God's Word while experiencing how to walk with God personally. She believes it is imperative that children have a relationship with Christ separate from their parents. Yet, Darla believes that the parental role is vital in the learning process of how to live the Christian life (Duet. 6:4-9). Therefore, her ministry is a family based holistic approach. Darla loves the children in her ministry as she would love her own children, and therefore partners with parents in training children in the ways of the Lord.
