Retta Christian Learning Center

The Retta Christian Learning Center is a ministry of Retta Baptist Church and is a Christian based daycare. The director and teachers of the RCLC are dedicated to nurturing your child in five areas of development while also ministering to you as a family. Our institution realizes the hectic life that the modern family is challenged with; therefore, we are here to serve your family and to help you make a loving and nurturing family lifestyle.

Our childcare staff qualifications are the top in this area of the metroplex. We are proud to announce our children are blessed with teachers with great teaching skills, who teach with a biblical based Wee Learn Curriculum and at age appropriate levels that assist childhood growth. These teaching skills are combined with love and care for both the child and family. Our daycare is a Christ-centered environment that partners with parents in nurturing their children while they are in the workplace. We endeavor to utilize the time with your child/children to help them to grow in five areas of human growth at age appropriate levels. These areas consist of the physical, mental, spiritual, emotional and social skills needed to develop a healthy childhood experience.

Our facility is state regulated. Our staff is background-checked, fingerprinted,CPR trained,and fulfills state certification guidelines.Retta BaptistChurch staffand the RCLC director have researched and interviewed the most qualified candidates within the metroplex. Retta Baptist Church also has appointed a committee that is dedicated to meet the daycare needs and to serve the families that are in the daycare. We have gone to great lengths to provide our families with top-rate personnel.

New Director: Elaine Holman

Elaine came highly recommended from Southwestern Seminary's Naylor Children's Center. Naylor was one of the top daycares within the U.S.A. and was a focal point of study from students all over the world. Elaine was Assistant Director at Naylor. Unfortunately, the Naylor Center closed due to lack of funding, but we were blessed withElaine's availability.She has worked with children for 40 years prior to her coming to RCLC.She has served as Children's Minister prior tothe directorshipat the RCLC,and also serves as the churchnursery coordinator for her local church. She has a Master's Degree in Childhood Education and has been director of our center since March 2009.

Assistant Director: Janie Long

Janie has been working with children for over 30 years and has been a great asset to the RCLC for many of those years. Janie's goals are the love and tender care that children and families covet.

Teachers

Several of our daycare teachers either have a bachelor's degree in childhood education, or are working on one. A few are seeking their Master's in Christian Childhood Education at the present time. Furthermore, many have come from Naylor or were referred by Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. All of the teachers are Christians and love the children and families in a Christ-like manner.

The Retta Christian Learning Center admits children who are:

Ages: 6 wks – Pre-Kindergarten
After School Program: K-6th
(with bus transportation serving the MISD and BISD)
